One can truly see the melding of Tiffany’s influences with Sarah Hanley’s own talent. The visually pleasing group of flowers beside the pond are almost Impressionist in their softly variegated colorations while the shrubbery behind them is high Art Nouveau to the point of being reminiscent of Tiffany’s own stained glass windows. The pond on which the flowers cast their shadowy image is a reflection of the brooding background sky that is almost completely obscured by tall trees and their foliage in duskily backlit tones of hunter green. Signed lower right “SEH” and written on the stretcher “Laurelton Hall Sept. 31″. Housed in a period frame stained dark green. SIZE: Overall 24″ x 28”.
