WHITNEY 1795 CONTRACT MUSKET. NSN. Cal. .72, 42-3/4″ round bbl. Marked “U. STATES” in an arc at the rear of the lockplate and “NEW HAVEN” under a large eagle in front of the hammer. Left side of the stock has several unreadable inspector marks. CONDITION: Rust-brown patina overall with very deep pitting at the breech. Tang screw is missing. Wood has numerous cracks and the ramrod channel has worn through the bottom of the stock in front of the lock. Frizzen has been faced. 4-47343 JR302 (500-600)
