FOUR VARIOUS GERMAN TIN HORSE TOYS.

An interesting grouping of German horse toys circa 1920s/1930s. First is a jockey seated upon a horse on wheeled base and commonly referred to as a penny toy. The second toy is identical excepting it has a simple windup motor. First toy being vibrant & exceptionally clean with a minor scuff here & there. The second lithographed in the same fashion but overall finish is slightly darker, most likely not from age but just a different litho finish that day. Third toy is quite unique, a wheeled platform toy with running horse & jockey racing to the finish while jumping over a fence. When toy is wound there are two large center wheels and small front & rear wheels, as it propels along the floor it would give the most realistic action of a horse & jockey running. Fourth toy is a jockey on a horse with windup motor contained within the horse. When wound, horse would move forward with lifelike action from his four legs. SIZE: Approx 4-1/4″, 4-1/4″, 5-1/2″ & 4-3/4″ l respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: First two toys overall fine to very fine plus. Third toy very fine to fine plus. Fourth toy good with discoloration & oxidation to litho finish, mechanism untested. 1-14766 (300-500) – Lot 1097
