HORSE DRAWN STOCK CART WITH HORSE DRAWN HANDPAINTED JOCKEY TOY.

The first toy being marked “Stock features a white mare with a simple 2-wheeled cart with a Victorian lady holding a whip. When toy is wound, toy will move forward and horse by means of an adjustment can turn right or left. This toy is very similar in nature to the stock Paddy & Pig windup toy. Overall condition is very fine plus with just a few minor chips to lady’s skirt & elsewhere upon close inspection. Second toy features a jockey upon his cart with a horse with animated legs. Unsure as to manufacture as qualities of the hand painted German toys as well as early French toys, but more than likely this is of German manufacture. Wonderful action when toy is wound, it proceeds forward and the horse with his movable legs portrays a lifelike action of a horse trotting along. A unique feature of this toy are the large stamped steel wheels with rubber tires, obviously this added additional cost as opposed to just straight stamped tin wheels. Horse & rider are of handpainted tin and the cart itself has the typical gold wash found on so many other toys of German manufacture. SIZE: Approx 7″ & 8” l respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: As mentioned stock toy is in wonderful original condition with vibrant litho and virtually no oxidation to gold trim. Jockey toy is in very good plus condition with most noticeable wear to jockey himself which has uniform paint loss/chipping. Tin wheels would benefit with a good cleaning to remove dirt & grime. 1-14767 (650-850) – Lot 1094
