SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE.SN 121108. Cal 40-65. Standard carbine with 22″ bbl, full magazine, square base front sight with German silver blade and 900 yard carbine ladder rear sight. Left side of receiver has a staple & ring. Mounted with uncheckered straight grain American walnut with straight stock & checkered steel shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl & magazine tube retain about 85-87% orig blue with scattered light surface rust and the magazine tube turning a little plummy. Receiver retains 25-30% faded case colors in sheltered areas with the balance a silver/brown patina with light pin-prick pitting. Hammer retains strong case colors and the lever traces of case colors. Wood is sound with light nicks & scratches, a couple small gouges on the left wrist and a bruise on the right with the buttstock retaining about 60% orig finish and the forearm a handworn patina. Mechanics are crisp, strong sharp bore with moderate to heavy pitting. Would still be a good shooter. 51791-1 (7,500-8,500) – Lot 1071
