*SPECTACULAR CUSTOM ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38WCF. Engraved by W. Kolouch and signed on the upper tang. This rifle has a 28″ oct. bbl, full magazine tube, very nicely figured straight stock with crescent buttplate. The receiver is full coverage engraved with a vignette of four relief gold elk in a mountain scene on the left side, relief engraved moose and wolf on the right side and floral and wire patterns in the engraving on the bottom. Both side panels have gold wire borders and gold wire at the front edge of the receiver, back edge of receiver and around both tangs. The lever also has gold wire on the front edge. The bbl has wide and narrow gold bands at the receiver and muzzle with fine engraving patterns extending 2-3/4″ up the bbl from the receiver, on the rear sight, on the top flat surrounding the lettering, near the foreend cap, bbl bands and at the muzzle. The top flat, at the muzzle, has gold wire in the engraving pattern and the engraving extends around seven of the flats. The caliber is inlaid in gold. The magazine band is engraved, as is the foreend cap, which also has extensive gold wire inlay. The buttplate has full coverage engraving with the heel tang having a relief gold ram and extensive gold wire inlay. The gold toeplate bears the initials “RE” The lever, hammer, both tangs and bolt are also full coverage engraved. The wood is beautifully checkered with 24-line patterns and has light arabesque pattern carving at the receiver on both sides and below the lower tang and again, on each side of the heel. The forearm is carved with identical patterns completely around the receiver end with a diamond pattern of carving in the center on the bottom. The bbl and magazine tube are wonderfully blued. The balance of the metal, including the receiver, lever, hammer and buttplate, have great European-style case colors and the wood, a fine hand-rubbed finish. SN 457583. CONDITION: Spectacular, new, unfired since finishing after engraving. Bright shiny bore.
