WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 DELUXE OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE SPORTING RIFLE WITH CHECKERED STOCKS AND CRESCENT BUTTPLATE.SN 10027. Cal. 40-82 WCF. 26″ bbl. Blue and case color finish. Figured American walnut stocks with checkered pistol grip and checkered forend. Pistol grip has an ebony insert. Standard sights. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 30-40% fading blue finish with wear on either side of the muzzle and a few small dents. Markings are sharp. Magazine tube retains 10% blue in protected areas. Magazine hanger retains 90% blue and may be a replacement. Sights are very good. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Receiver is a mottled gray-brown patina overall with slight traces of case color especially on right side. Hammer and lever are a gray-brown patina with traces of case color in protected areas. Bolt retains 50% blue. Stocks are very good but slightly undersized at the wrist. Checkering is sharp on pistol grip and forend. Stocks show dents and scratches commensurate with age of rifle. Buttplate is a gray-brown patina with erosion at heel and toe. Forend is gray-brown patina with traces of case color on the right side.
