LEHMANN ONKEL, AKA NEW CENTURY CYCLE, WITH OB.

Another great toy from the Soling collection. Perhaps the most intriguing part is the original cardboard box which for the most part is like a brick. The box itself is lacking one end flap to the lid, but has an incredible black & white picture covering virtually the entire top. Interesting it has two names, Der Automobile Onkel, and perhaps the English version was called New Century Cycle. The toy is pictured driving down a city street with gentlemen & young men tipping their hats, which was the whole premise of how this toy works. Written in crayon on top of the box is perhaps the original owner’s name “Charley”. The toy itself is virtually very fine plus to near mint unplayed with condition. Absolutely incredible the gold flashing on the wheels and trim work literally jumps out at you showing little or no signs of oxidation. The blue body of the vehicle is virtually perfect with only a couple minor scuffs. The painted figures themselves are amazingly bright and perhaps the only noticeable issue that one could have is, upon close examination, there is some minor chipping to the white on the painted wheels. Even the umbrella, which is red striped, is close to flawless. Truly a remarkable example! SIZE: Approx 5-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: As described above. 1-14612 (800-1,200) – Lot 1058
