VERY RARE HEAVY BARREL 3RD MODEL 1873 WINCHESTER WITH CRESCENT BUTTPLATE.

SN 335788B. Cal. 44 WCF. 28″ oct heavy bbl with full magazine. Blue finish. Straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Standard sights. Standard markings for this model. Bbl is of a heavy profile with tips of bbl flats even with front ring of receiver. Plain trigger. Manufactured in 1890. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows a silver-gray patina overall with some dark stains especially near rear sight. Bbl address and cal. mark are sharp and clear. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Magazine tube is a gray-brown patina overall. Receiver is gray-brown patina overall with visible striations in the metal especially on left side. Left side plate has scratches and some battering as does the right side plate. Loading gate shows traces of blue. Elevator is a mustard brown patina with clear cal. mark. Hammer and lever are a gray-brown patina. Upper tang is somewhat battered near screw. SN is clear. Stocks are very good, were lightly cleaned at one time, and are slightly undersized. Stocks show mars and dents overall commensurate with age of rifle. A very rare heavy bbl Winchester model 1873 rifle. 49973-4 TEP (2,000-3,000) – Lot 1035
