1ST MODEL WINCHESTER 1873 ROUND BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE.

SN 18576. Cal. 44 WCF. 24″ rnd bbl with full magazine. Straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Standard sights. Standard bbl address for this model. Receiver is 1st model type with dust cover sliding in mortise without guardrail. Dust cover has long oval thumbprint with fine checkering. “MODEL 1873” on upper tang. SN on lower tang behind lever. Buttstock has provision for sling swivel that has been removed. Forend cap also has provision for sling swivel which has been removed. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube are a smooth brown patina overall with sharp markings. Sights are good. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver is a gray-brown patina overall. Dust cover has a worn thumbprint. Hammer and lever are gray-brown patina with slight traces of case color on side of hammer. Tang marks are sharp. Stocks are very good, have been lightly cleaned and are slightly under-sized with numerous dents and scratches overall. Buttplate is also a smooth gray-brown patina. Forend has some deep dents on either side. A nice early 1st model Winchester model from an old Texas collection. 49973-3 TEP (2,500-3,500) – Lot 1032
