WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 ROUND BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH CRESCENT BUTT.

SN 255877 B. Cal. 32 WCF. 24″ rnd bbl, full magazine, blue finish. Varnished straight grain American walnut stocks. Bbl shows correct Winchester 2-line address in front of sight and cal mark at breech end. Standard sights. Receiver is of the stepped variety. Upper tang is marked “Model 1873” with finials. SN is stamped behind trigger guard. Stocks are straight grained, varnish finish, with crescent butt and steel fore-end cap. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl and magazine tube are a smooth dull blue finish overall, fading into a plumb brown patina. Bbl markings are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Receiver retains 80-85% bright blue finish with most of the wear at the forward end. Some slight scratching overall. All markings are sharp. Elevator is a mustard patina with sharp cal mark. Hammer retains a generous amount of trace color that is vivid on left side. Lever is a silver gray patina with traces of case color in protected areas. Stocks are fine, full-sized and retain nearly all of the varnish finish with most of loss at the rear of fore-end. Stocks have light scratch marks overall. Buttplate is a silver gray patina with slight traces of case color on tang. Forend cap retains 70% bright blue. A fine Winchester 1873 rifle. 49971-8 TEP (3,000-5,000) – Lot 1029
