WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 HALF ROUND HALF OCTAGON BARREL RIFLE WITH CRESCENT BUTT.

SN 171883 A. Cal. 32 WCF. 24″ half rnd/half oct bbl, blue finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent butt and steel forend cap. Front sight is Beach’s combination, standard rear sight, 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight. Cal mark at breech. Receiver is of the stepped variety. Upper tang is marked “Model 1873” with finial. Upper tang has a sight locating stud in the rear sight hole. Lower tang has SN stamped behind lever. Elevator has cal mark stamped. Stocks are varnish finished and otherwise unmarked. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains an even plum/brown patina overall with blue in protected areas. Marks are sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Receiver retains 60-70% bright blue finish, drifting to a plum patina, with some light cleaning. Loading gate retains a generous amount of blue. Extractor retains a generous amount of fire blue. Dust cover retains 50% of blue, blending with a pleasing plum/brown patina. Tang markings are sharp. Elevator has a mustard patina with sharp cal mark. Hammer retains considerable muted case color on both sides with vivid color on front face of hammer. Lever is a gray/brown patina with case color in protected areas and some roughness on the bottom side. Stocks are very good with numerous small handling marks and dents overall. Buttplate is a silver/gray patina with some staining. Forend cap retains 20% bright blue blending to a plum/brown patina.
