WINCHESTER 2ND MODEL 1873 OCTAGON BARREL FULL MAGAZINE RIFLE WITH CASE COLORED RECEIVER SET TRIGGER AND CRESCENT BUTT.

SN 61735. Cal. 44 WCF. 24″ oct bbl, with full magazine, blue and case color finish, set trigger. Straight grained American walnut stocks with crescent butt. Bbl has 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight and no cal marking, which is correct for this model. Standard sights. Receiver is 2nd Model type having dust cover rail attached by screw. “Model 1873” on upper tang. SN engraved on lower tang behind lever. Elevator is unmarked, which is correct. Receiver has special order single set trigger. Stocks are oil finished. Crescent buttplate and steel fore-end cap. 4-pc steel cleaning rod in butt. CONDITION: Very good to fine for this model. Bbl and magazine tube have about 20% blue finish, fading into a plumb brown patina overall, with some small dents and scratches. Bbl address is sharp. Sights are very good. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver has 20% silvered out case color, especially on left side. Side plates have an even smooth brown patina. Dust cover is a plumb brown patina. Trigger pin is slightly battered on right side. Screws are very good. Elevator has a mustard patina with very light scratching. Dust cover rail screw is a replacement. Upper tang has 2 file cuts through the word “Model”. SN is sharp. Set trigger functions well. Tang sight screws are replacements. Stocks are very good, full-sized, and show minor handling marks overall. Buttplate is a dark brown patina with some roughness at heal and toe and slight traces of case color near trap-door. Fore-end cap is a smooth plumb brown patina with slight erosion. A very desirable Winchester 2nd Model 1873 rifle with case color receiver and special order set trigger.
