TOWN HALL AND “THE VILLA” STILL BANKS.The Town Hall still bank by Kyser & Rex is a relatively obscure and tough bank to find. This particular bank retains its original enameled black finish with remnants of the original clock paper on rear clock face. Original twist pin intact and present. This bank was by manufactured by Kyser & Rexs of Philadelphia. The second bank is “The Villa Bank” of English manufacture by Sydenham & McOustra in extremely well cast facade on the front of bank including its bay window. The latter part of the 19th century, the English manufactured a number of iron banks equally as detailed and delicately cast as their American counterparts… this is an example of such. Bank retains much of its original japanned finish. SIZE: 4-1/2″ t & 4″ t respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: First bank is very fine. Second bank is fine to very fine; slightly heavier chipping to japanning on roof. 1-14644-1, 1-14646 (1,000-1,500) – Lot 1018 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
