WINCHESTER EARLY 3RD MODEL 1873 DELUXE RIFLE WITH CASE COLORED RECEIVER AND CHECKERED PISTOL GRIP STOCKS.

SN 132570 A. Cal. 44 WCF. 24″ oct bbl, with half magazine, blue and case color finish. XXX checkered pistol grip stocks with crescent butt and factory sling swivels. Single set trigger. Factory tang sight. Bbl has standard 2-line Winchester address in front of rear sight. No cal mark. Front sight is blade type. Rear sight is semi-buckhorn type. Half magazine has rnd cap. Receiver has SN stamped on lower tang behind lever. Rear sight was not removed to check for tang mark. Lower left tang is marked XXX with assembly no 5032. Tang is also marked “SS” and “R”. Receiver has single set trigger. Stock has assembly no 5032 with an “S” at the forward end in the upper tang mortiss. Butt stock has assembly no 5032 inside toe. Buttplate has factory swing swivel. Pistol grip is checkered with ebony insert in cap. Fore-end is checkered in a diamond pattern. Fore-end cap has factory swing swivel. Accompanying this rifle is a Cody Firearms Museum Letter confirming Barrel, Trigger, stocks, half magazine, case hardened finish, and swing swivels. Sights are listed as “Grad Peep and Beach”. Front sight has been changed. Letter states rifle was shipped on September 15, 1883 order no. 6951. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl has 80% dull blue finish overall with high-point wear. Some minor dents and scratches and a sharp bbl address. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Receiver retains 20-30% case color overall with staining and blotching, mainly toward the forward end. Side plate screw is slightly marred. Dust cover is a plumb brown patina. Hammer and lever are a plumb brown patina with traces of case color in protected areas. Trigger retains a considerable amount of blue and functions well. Stocks are very good with nearly all of the varnish finish remaining. Stocks have small dents and scratches overall. Checkering is sharp on pistol grip and forearm. Six notches on pistol grip right side. Buttplate is a silver gray patina. Fore-end cap is also a silver gray patina.
