WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE WITH 15 1/2″ BARREL.

SN 167407. Cal. 44 CF. 15 1/2″ bbl. Blue finish. Gun metal receiver. Straight grained American walnut stocks with carbine butt. Saddle ring. All markings are standard for this model. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube are a dark brown patina overall with a sharp address and good sight. Bbl is marked 44 R.F. at breech. Bbl and magazine have been shortened during period of use. Bore is dark with traces of rifling. Receiver is an even mustard patina overall with high point wear and mars and scratches overall especially at hammer. SN is sharp. Elevator shows denting. Stocks are very good and slightly undersized. Left side of buttstock shows remnants of tack decoration. No tack heads are present but there are a few square shanks remaining in some holes. Stocks have dents and scratches overall. Buttstock shows vertical wear marks on both sides. Buttplate is a deep brown patina. A very colorful old 66 carbine kicked out of the brush in Texas. 49973-24 TEP (3,000-4,000) – Lot 1013
