LILLIPUT & HALLS EXCELSIOR MECHANICAL BANKS BY J. & E. STEVENS.

The Halls Lilliput bank, a classic depicting a gentleman holding a scalloped tray, and when a coin is placed on the tray, the weight would allow the gentleman to turn to his left & deposit the coin within. Enameled in a lime green with two-toned brown trims and red & yellow highlighting. Oftentimes this particular bank has a replaced figure and/or tin scalloped tray, or missing its original trap on the underside, or perhaps damage to the fragile and elaborate castings. This particular bank is intact, complete, retains very fine original paint and has no damage to castings. The Halls Excelsior bank is relatively a common bank, but most uncommon in this condition and/or its paint color scheme. By the front door, the doorbell/bead is pulled, and the cupola opens up with a monkey seated at a desk. Original “Cashier” paper label still present. Wooden monkey & desk somewhat suspect and most likely replaced at some point and time. But the visual appeal of this bank is the color scheme and condition. SIZE: Approx 4-1/4″ t and 5″ t respectively. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: As stated above. 1-14648 (850-1,250) – Lot 1011
