PAIR OF PAINTED U.S. TREASURY BANKS.Originally manufactured by Columbia Grey Iron Casting Co., the first bank depicting a more elaborately cast and intricate version enameled in a cream color with gilt trim and red highlighting. Oftentimes this bank is nickel plated or electroplated, it is somewhat unusual to find a painted version, especially one in pristine condition. Original date of manufacture was the mid-1920s and later on in the mid 20th century, the same company produced the same bank but in a less elaborate casting to the front landing area. This bank was also enameled in a cream color, but only with a red roof. SIZE: Approx 3″ x 4″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: Both banks are in original very fine plus to pristine finish. 1-14668 (750-950) – Lot 1008 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
