MOSQUE MECHANICAL BANK BY JUDD MFG. CO.

An intricately cast iron bank from the 1880s depicting a Mosque. Through an opening in the dome, a gorilla is standing with a tray atop his head where the coin would be deposited. By means of a crank handle on the side, the gorilla revolves around and the coin falls within the bank itself. Atop of the dome is a female figure clutching a wreath in her left hand (replaced figure). Bank, as mentioned is elaborately cast with a japanned finish with some of the original gold highlighting most prevelant on two of the four sides and sections of the domed roof. SIZE: Approx 6″ d x 6″ w x 8-1/2″ t. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling.
