LARGE EAGLE STILL BANK.Of unknown manufacture, but purported to have been made by an upstate New York company as a sideline to their typical manufacture of other items. There are several versions of this bank and more than likely various companies made this or similar versions. Normally found, the castings tend to be rougher but overall the castings on this particular bank are relatively fine as opposed to other versions that have surfaced over the years. The bank is somewhat heavy and massive, and upon close examination, two individuals are standing in the front doors of the bank. I am sure this had some significance, but the true meaning of this has escaped with time. The eagle atop of the chimney is proportionately incongruous with the size of the building itself… artist interpretation or availability of other items used by same foundry at the time. SIZE: Approx 9-1/2″ t x 5-1/4″ w x 5″ d. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carol and Jerry Soling. CONDITION: Overall fine to very fine original paint finish. 1-14651 (600-900) – Lot 1005 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
