SCARCE EARLY VOLCANIC NO. 1 POCKET PISTOL.SN 244. Cal. 31. These popular brass framed revolver made about 1857, marked on 3-1/2″ bbl “NEW HAVEN CONN. PATENT FEBRUARY 14, 1854”. PROVENANCE: The Estate of G. W. “Bill” Stewart of Sonora, Texas. CONDITION: Good to very good overall. No finish on bbl which is overall gray with pitting. Brass shows traces of original silver plating and overall a light yellow mustard patina. Grips are well fit with small chips in each toe with matching SNs to gun. Hairline crack in butt in left grip. Grips retain about 1/2 of original varnish finish. Mechanically gun functions with discernible crisp rifling. 49973-409 JS (6,000-8,000) – Lot 1003
