SN 1385. Cal. 7 mm. 3-1/4″ bbl. Deep arsenal rust blue finish with checkered walnut 2-pc grips and nickel aluminum based magazine. Straw finished trigger, magazine release and extractor. The Baby Nambu with a believed production of less than 6500 has always been the iconic WWII Japanese collectible. CONDITION: Extremely fine, with most all finish remaining, with the slightest loss of finish on the front of the trigger and the top left spring guide to the left of chamber. *NEAR MINT CONDITION GERMAN 98K “ar 42” MAUSER FIELD TRIAL SNIPER RIFLE.
SN 2327. Cal. 8mm. This fantastic specimen has all matching numbered parts and has correct eagle over 26 proof marks with eagle over Swastika firing proofs. Laminated flat buttplate stock retains it’s SN and eagle over 26 cartouche, however, no issue cartouche present which leads this cataloger to the conclusion that it was never issued. This rifle would have had a low power 1.5x “Aim-point” type scope. The intended purpose was to equip 10% of infantry with a low powered scope which would have high light gathering ability useful at dawn and dusk. This rifle was made at the Mauser plant in Berlin-Borsigwalde (the old DWM plant) with the bolt stop re-designed as a scope base. CONDITION: Absolutely fantastic lustrous, orig finish with some thinning at the muzzle and along the high points with some brassing to the top ears of the scope mount and some areas of light pitting and brown patina on the buttplate which seams to be inescapable on these rifles. Bore is excellent, shiny and bright. Stock is absolutely gorgeous with only the occasional ding, never sanded or messed with. Most of these rifles were apparently lost in the East as were the scopes and are largely overlooked by most German Rifle collectors. 52026-1 (3,500-5,500) C&R – Lot 2372

Upper rail mount also has serial number which matches barrel serial number. Bolt serial number also matches, as does extended thumb safety with last two digits of serial number on it. Forend cap and barrel band are of the stamped and welded type as seen on late war 98Ks. Mag floor plate and receiver are well marked “gnw”. Wood of stock and hand guard is of the laminated type, smooth but without any oil finish. The cupped buttplate has a crosshatched pattern on rear. CONDITION: Very fine, mechanics are functional. Barrel and receiver have smooth gray finish overall with some evidence of patina forward of the barrel serial number, and on the barrel forward of the end cap. The scope mount and rail is of a deep blue as are the actual scope rings, which appear like metal bands wrapped around the scope to hold it in the saddle of the lower scope ring.
