FOLK ART CARVING “MORTAL COMBAT” ATTRIBUTED TO MOISE POTVIN (1876-1948), WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND.

The wood carving shows a ferocious male lion in combat with a large green spotted boa constrictor. The snake has coiled itself around the body of the cat and they are head to head with open mouths. Nicely carved with good detail and painted surface. Mounted on a rectangular black wood base with title in pencil on bottom. Possibly one of two known similar carvings. According to an article on the artist, he was a self taught carver and violin maker who moved to the United States from Quebec, Canada in 1891. He would travel in the States & Canada lecturing & showing his carvings. The carving is accompanied by a small group of biographical and historical information on his carvings. SCALE MODEL 1929 BENTLEY BLOWER 4.5 LITER MOTORCAR.

Built to exacting standards, they don’t get any better than this. One can imagine the hours upon hours taken to bring this piece to life. Consisting of over 4,000 pieces of steel, brass, wood, rubber, and leather, this vehicle is the epitome of class and luxury. Created by Sapor Modelltechnik as one of only 25 produced, it is exact in nearly every respect to the original. Its classic green body houses an electric motor, shiftable gears, brakes, headlamps, etc. Encased in a custom showcase with mirrored bottom so one can view every gorgeous angle. Circa 1925, Rookwood Pottery Company. Vase with Rookwood mark, shape number 419, with incised signature of Kataro. Decorated with flowering fruit tree blossoms. Ivan Sazikov (1899-1908), Russia. This wonderful enameled set in its presentation box comprising a tea strainer in the form of a spoon, tea spoon, desert fork, and sugar tongs. Each with gold wash surface and fine polychrome enamel inlays. Each with the Cyrillic mark for “IS”, and additional assay mark “84” which is the silver standard mark. SIZE: Strainer 6″ l. RUSSIAN IMPERIAL PRESENTATION GOLD JEWELED LADY’S WATCH.

Pavel (Paul) Buhre, circa 1902, Russia/Switzerland. The outer case engraved “Present De Sa Majeste / L’empereur Nicolas II / A Mme E. Baletta / 3 Fevrier 1902”, SN “0 583”. The enamel dial with Arabic numeral chapter ring and subsidiary chapter ring in red enamel marking the minutes. The minute and hours hand of cast scrolling gilt metal, enamel dial with tight hairline cracks radiating from center post. The exterior of the front cover overlaid with an Imperial Eagle with blue enamel crown further inlaid with diamond chips and a central diamond. The movement with Cyrillic for “LU”, the inner rear case cover stamped with the numeral “54484”. SIZE: Diameter of dial 25.4 mm. Diameter of watch 31.75 mm. TWO FAMILLE ROSE “THREE BOY” VASES.

19th/20th Century, China. Each vase in bottle form decorated around the body with bats and lotus scroll on a dual glazed ground. The top accented with a ring of ruyi and traces of gilt remain on the rim. Applied to both are three young boys at play including two perched upon the shoulder and one pulling a rope below. They are marked on the underside with iron red Qianlong seals on a turquoise glazed ground. SIZE: Approximately 12-1/2″ h. China. Qing Dynasty. The vase carved from a grayish colored stone having russet inclusions. The exterior with a wide band of archaistic design above a ring of lappets accenting the tall splayed foot. Two large mask and ring handles on each side along with four smaller handles adorning the neck. Comes with original domed cover, having lotus form finial.
