CARVED PORTUGUESE ROCOCO STYLE ROSEWOOD CENTER TABLE.

Late 19th century. This fine example with rectangular top and gadrooned edge above conforming frieze. The apron carved in deep relief with scrolling vinery centering a shell within a C-scroll molded frame, the background carved with rows of floral squares. The table raised on bold cabriole legs with molded edge and large scalloped returns centering a carved cartouche of flower heads, scrolling leaf tips, and drapery. Raised on dramatic ball and paw feet with carved knuckles. SIZE: 33-1/2″ h x 44-1/2″ w x 28-3/4″ d. CONDITION: The three board top with tight seam cracks, now stable. Table retains original surface with rich, dark patina. Minimal and minor restoration to edge of apron at leaf tips, now with good French polish. 53021-3 (6,000-8,000) – Lot 1533
