TWO DECORATED 19TH CENTURY PERCUSSION MUSKETS.1) EUROPEAN PERCUSSION. NSN. Cal. 70. 49-1/2″ overall, 34-1/4″ oct-rnd bbl with long range rear sight and 3 brass bands. Buttstock is relief carved in Germanic style of leaping stag. Lock and brass lock escutcheon have numerous small pinned silver leaf decoration which only a few remain as can be seen in photos. Bbl proofs and lock markings appear Leige but not totally discernible. CONDITION: Good overall. Bbl and lock are a mottled grey with pitting. Brass has light mustard patina. Stock is sound and solid with several cracks in forestock. Sling swivel stud in buttstock has been filled. Thumbplate missing as are the small silver leaf insets as noted. Mechanics need attention with smooth pitted bore. 2) EUROPEAN RIFLE. NSN. Cal. 70. Unusual maple stocked and Germanic style relief carved, “J. E. VASLI” marked stock, 11-1/2-lb, oct brass breeched rnd bbl with brass trimmed cannon muzzle with deep 7-groove rifling. Gun was originally flint and was converted to percussion with new breech. No provision for buttplate. Trigger guard and ramrod thimbles are simple sheet iron. CONDITION: Good overall as configured, missing bbl pins so stock is a loose from bbl.
