LARGE SEA SERVICE MUSKETOON OR RAIL GUN BY TOWER.

NSN. Cal. 1.8″ at muzzle. 24″ Steel round bbl flares to 2-1/4″ at muzzle, rear portion is stamped with British military proofs and “4”. Large Brown Bess type lock with serpentine cock and bridled friction frizzen is marked “Tower” on tail and “GR” under a crown at center. Walnut stock with deeply fluted comb is stamped with broad arrow over “BO” (British Ordnance) on left side, along with proof and date 1800. Heavy brass furniture is of military style, and newly made reproduction iron rail yoke has been added. PROVENANCE: Old catalog description. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and lock cleaned to silvery gray over scattered pitting. Stock has what appears to be orig varnish with many bumps and marks. Brass is a fine mustard patina. Mechanically good.
