*REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER TYPE III MODEL NO. 4 LATE PRODUCTION PISTOL.SN 95799. Cal. .41 RF. 3″ bbls, matte gray finish, 2-pc Mother-of-Pearl grips. Bbl shows Remington-U.M.C. on top flat. SN is stamped on the left inner grip frame and on the bottom of the bbl lug. Barrel SN has an “L” prefix. This Deringer appears to be a transitional model with a rib between the bbls, matte gray finish, and a hammer that is grooved instead of knurled. Frame shows 2 proof marks on the right side by the trigger, a triangle and an arrow. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 80% matte gray/blue finish that has faded to a plum patina especially on the left side with some slight muzzle wear. Bbl markings are sharp. Bores are bright with strong rifling and appear unfired. Frame also retains 98%+ of the matte blue finish with high point wear, a few scratches, finish has somewhat drifted to a patina toward the butt. Hammer, lever latch, screw, and trigger show nearly all their blue finish. Mother-of-pearl grips are intact with no chips or cracks. A chance to purchase a Remington Double Deringer with a combination of features making it possibly a transition model. 51641-5 TEP (1,000-1,500) C&R – Lot 2211A
