*REMINGTON DOUBLE DERINGER TYPE III MODEL NO. 4 PISTOL.SN 97683. Cal. .41 RF. 3″ bbls, matte gray/blue finish, 2-pc checkered hard rubber grips. bbl rib shows Remington-U.M.C. address in 1-line. SN is stamped on lower left grip frame under grips. SN is also stamped on the bbl lug with an “L” prefix. Hammer spur is grooved instead of knurled. There are 2 proof marks on the right side of the frame near the trigger spur, 1 is a triangle and the other is a heart. PROVENANCE: Bruce Burtner Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 90% matte blue finish that is drifting on both sides to a smooth blue/gray patina. Bbl markings are sharp. Bores are bright with strong rifling and very slight staining, possibly un-fired. Frame is also a matte blue/gray finish that is turning slightly plum/brown on the grip straps. Hammer retains nearly all of the blue finish. Hinge screw, lever screw, bbl latch and trigger also retain nearly all of the blue finish. A very fine example of a late production Remington Double Deringer which is a possible transition to the third variation. 51641-29 TEP (800-1,200) C&R – Lot 2211
