AMERICAN SCHOOL (19th Century) FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A MAN AT TWO AGES.

Highly unusual portrait of a gentleman depicted as a young man on the right side of his head and an old man on his left side. The artist has changed the hair color from brown to gray and the sitters eyes have faded from a deep blue to a light gray, however his facial tone does not change. This unsigned oil on canvas is a bust length view, housed in a period giltwood frame. SIZE: 20″ x 16″. Overall 28″ x 23-3/4″. PROVENANCE: From a Maine/Texas estate being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Small tear lower left, surface dirt, large brown paint drip lower right, scattered white paint in background, lined, frame has losses to molding. 51358-98 (50-100) – Lot 2621
