EASTLAKE VICTORIAN WALNUT CYLINDER ROLL TOP SECRETARY BOOKCASE.Last quarter 19th century, American. In two parts, the upper case with molded cornice above a pair of glass paneled cabinet doors opening to an interior fitted with two adjustable shelves above the cylinder roll with burl walnut panel opening to an interior fitted with a row of stationery compartments and two letter drawers above a writing slide. Joined to the lower case comprised of a molded long drawer over a bank of two short drawers and molded panel covered door carved with grape filled cornucopia on a molded base. SIZE: 85″ t x 39-1/2″ w x 23″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Maine/Texas estate being sold unreserved. CONDITION: The secretary desk refinished, now a mellow nut brown color. The crest is absent. Writing slide without baize or leather writing surface: the original wood under surface now polished. Hardware original. Burled barrel roll intact and original.
