FINE SHERATON EAGLE DECORATED PAINTED SETTEE.

Second quarter 19th Century, New England. The tablet crestrail decorated with fruit sprays, raised on four stiles alternating with three shaped splats, each decorated with a displayed eagle on rockwork above a rectangular slat joined to a teardrop support, each decorated with harp. The back joined to down swept scrolled arms with rolled handgrips and canted turned cylindrical supports centering a deep thick plank seat. Raised on 8 tapering cylindrical legs. All joined by box stretcher. SIZE: Height: 36″ Length: 79″ Approx depth: 25″ CONDITION: Painted surfaces with wear throughout. Graining remains visible on back of crest and slats and on rear of seat. All surfaces now age darkened. Seat plank with significant wear to surface but with good patina. Proper left arm needs tightening at back.
