RARE CHINESE ZITAN CARVED CANOPY BED.19th century, China. The soft matted sleeping platform within a rectangular, mitered frame, molded with a waisted apron and raised on corner legs of square section ending in hoof feet, the front, back and side railings in low relief dragon carvings, joined by six baluster form upright carved dragons posts, joined to five similarly carved dragon panels along the sides and surmounted by a carved dragon canopy. SIZE: 93″ h x 88-1/2″ l x 59″ w. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection from a renowned Taiwanese Diplomatic Family – Cai Wanjun (? – 2011), Xu Shaochang (1913–1999), and Ye Gongchao (1904 – 1981).
