TWO AUSTRIAN CARVED CHALICES.

1) Austrian chalice is cobalt blue cut to clear with a front intaglio carved panel of an industrial looking site with large buildings and bridges crossing a river. Backside of the chalice has intaglio carved grapevines, leaves and bunches and bottom section of the chalice is cut with a band of stylized flowers. Top of foot is faceted and the edge is finished with faceted windows. Unsigned. 2) Chalice has 3 carved and etched medallions along with a fourth medallion with crosshatch carving. Goblet bowl is further decorated with applied red and blue glass beads with clear coraline leaves and stems surrounding the medallions. The stem is finished in blue overshot while the foot is finished in frosted overshot with applied green and red glass beads. Unsigned. Marked on the bottom in black enamel with what appears to be a museum identification number “T.96.13”. SIZE: 1) 6-1/2″ t. 2) 6-3/4″ t. CONDITION: 1) Very good to excellent with 1 wheel slip near the faceted edge of the (from the making). 2) Very good to excellent with some wear to gilding on lip. 5-69515 (400-600) – Lot 2069
