GREAT LAKES TRANSIT CORPORATION TIN SIGN.Beveled edge tin over cardboard sign promoting Great Lakes cruises between Buffalo and Duluth via the steamers “SS Tionesta”, “SS Juniata” and “SS Octorara”. The Octorara was built in 1910 and taken out of commercial use in 1937 when it was used as a Coast Guard barracks ship in Buffalo. Starting in 1941 it was repurposed as a water tanker to the Hawaiian Islands and finally scrapped in 1952. SIZE: 19″ w x 13″ h.
