By Lannan Ship Models, Boston. A thrilling rendition of the 1908 winner of The Gold Cup Speedboat Race. The original speedboat owned by E. J. Schroeder won over 105 races, cost over $15,000 and was powered by a 150hp engine. The model shown here represents a sleek, early speedboat design, executed beautifully in grained mahogany. Exhaust stacks depict 8 cylinder power. Topside of boat is well done with a ribbed effect to mahogany. Clever working steering via cables from steering wheel to rudder. Cockpit also features 5 brass-rimmed dashboard instruments. Boat has green paint finish from waterline and below. Bow and stern have perforated copper strips surrounding what would have been openings on topside. Port and starboard lights, with red and green lenses, are set in solid brass fittings. Windshield is framed in brass and copper. Case is also done in mahogany-a darker shade with checkered light wood inlay. Display case is complete with glass top framed in brass. SIZE: Boat 42″ l.
