COLLECTION OF 5 PRECIOUS EARLY POSTWAR STEIFF CATS.This instant collection consists of 3 of Steiff “Kitty” cats, a black and white “Gussy” cat, and a tiny tan “Tapsy” kitten. All are standing, made from mohair, have pink hand embroidered noses and mouths, and green and black slit pupil eyes. The Kitty cats are five ways jointed. The larger early-era Kitty has red claws and retains her chest tag, US Zone tag, and original ribbon. One of the smaller Kitty cats has exquisite coloring and a velvet muzzle; she retains her chest tag and original ribbon. The other smaller Kitty has a precocious and endearing look and personality; her IDs have been lost to time. Kitty was made from 1949-1970 in 10, 17, and 22 cm. Gussy is head jointed and has a velvet muzzle. She has her original ribbon, button, yellow tag, and chest tag. Gussy was made from 1952-1969 in 12 and 17 cm. Tiny Tapsy is unjointed and has tan felt ears. She retains her original blue ribbon, Steiff button, ear tag, and chest tag as her IDs. Tapsy was produced from 1959-1966 in 8, 11, 15 and 18 cm. SIZE: Largest is 5-1/2″ h; smallest is 2-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine collection.
