TWO FABULOUS 1920’s ERA DOG NOVELTY ITEMS FROM EUROPE.This exciting and most unusual lot consists of two dog-themed collectibles, most likely from France. The first is a circa 1920 tan and cream colored felt bulldog pull toy made by the company FADAP. The dog is standing and unjointed. His face is detailed with fabulous almond shaped tri-colored glass eyes, folded-over ears, and a brown and embroidered nose and mouth. His tail is long and thin; it the tip of it has snapped off near the end. He retains his original and dramatic leather and horsehair collar, which is detailed with three FADAP buttons. He rides upon four wooden eccentric wheels. The almost life-sized Scotty dog is also circa 1920 made from papier mache and covered in thick, black real fur. He is in a lying position with his front paws extended outward. His face is detailed with lifelike pupil eyes and a black leather nose. Here’s where it gets interesting! His head pops off like a candy container, but he also has a black fabric zippered compartment on his underside – so he doubles as a pajama bag. A delightful rarity in many ways! SIZE: 6-1/2″ h and 12″ h respectively. PROVENANCE: A fine New England Collection. CONDITION: As noted. Bulldog with very light playwear, a few tiny holes, minor losses to collar, and light dust, otherwise good. Scotty with a few very tiny holes in black fabric underside, otherwise very good to excellent. 9-25051 (1,000-2,000) – Lot 1377 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll Auction - Fall 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
