LARGE “LINDY” GLIDER.This toy reminds one of an Ultralight plane one would have constructed in their backyard. A central framework with a wing houses the pilot sitting front and center. Manufactured in the 1930s by Hubley of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the plane is enameled in deep red with a yellow wing with the pilot is attired in a green jumpsuit. Tail section is embossed “Detroit Gull” and the wing embossed “Lindy Glider”. Toy retains original rubber tires mounted to iron hubs and a pull string and ball attached to front end. An elusive toy and seldom found complete and with original finish, especially retaining the Hubley decal on the tail section. SIZE: 11″ wingspan x 10″ l. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus original finish with no damage or repairs to iron castings. 1-13994 (2,500-3,000) – Lot 3353 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
