14″ KATHE KRUSE “EVELYN” WITH ORIGINAL BOX.A choice Kathe Kruse from the latter 1940s time period. The box is marked “Made in Germany/U.S. Zone”. The doll is in virtually fine plus to near mint condition. However, on the upper forehead near the hairline she has two small dings with minimal paint loss as well as a small scuff to the top of her right ear but it is covered by the bonnet. The linen body has extremely light soiling, most likely these dolls were always kept in their boxes, never seeing the light of day. The coloring and clothing are vibrant and she retains an original paper wrist tag on her right hand as well as an additional tag around her neck. Box overall is extremely solid and to use the term “like a brick” which means in excellent strong original condition. Paper label on end of box indicates Kathe Kruse and her name, Evelyn, as well as traces of an original FAO Schwarz. Head appears to be linen/cloth with a center seam and completely painted not only on the front but the rear section as well. SIZE: 14″ h. CONDITION: Overall very fine to near mint plus. 1-14260 (800-1,200) – Lot 3155 Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2014 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
