WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-60. Standard grade rifle with 28″ round bbl, half-nickel front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight, short base, thick base, short range tang sight, full magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with sliding trap. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this rifle with shipment date of September 17, 1887. SN 56913. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and mag tube retain 85-90% thinning original blue turning brown in places. Receiver retains about 80% thinning original blue mixed with brown. Wood is sound with the forearm retaining about 50% original finish and the buttstock about 90%. Lever retains traces of case colors with the balance turned silver and gray. Hammer retains about 50% dark case colors. Strong, bright bore with scattered light pitting. 4-47014 JR400 (3,000-5,000)
