SHAKUDO INCENSE BURNER. 18th century, China. Gilt relief decoration of birds and flowers with archaic style corner notching and chrysanthemum petal decoration around the shoulder. With heaven soaring handles. Cover carved and pierced with chrysanthemum flowers and surmounted by a foo dog finial. Accompanied by a carved and fitted hardwood stand. SIZE: 11″ across handles. 8-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: Yamanaka & Co., Kyoto, Japan 22nd June 1920. CONDITION: Structurally very good with nice patina. 7-73410 (5,000-7,000)
