PATRICK HENNESSY (Irish, 1915-1980) “ROSE AND BUTTERFLY”. Oil on canvas board Housed in original frame and liner Signed “Hennessy”, lower left Identified on Guildhall Galleries Limited Chicago, on verso Widely considered one of Ireland’s finest realist painters, Hennessey was born in Cork and raised and initially trained (on Scholarships at the Dundee College of Art) in Scotland. Other scholarships allowed his to study in Paris and Rome as well. His work was exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and was extensively featured in exhibitions at the Royal Hibernian Academy. His paintings are included in numerous public and private collections including the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. SIZE: 9-1/2″ x 6-1/2″. Overall 12″ x 8-1/2″.
