RARE WARREN MCARTHUR CHAISE-LOUNGE. 1930-1933, Los Angeles, California. Warren McArthur (American 1885-1961). Comprised of stainless, chromed, and enameled steel tubing. The sloping back with three flat brushed slats joined to the enameled green tubular supports with polished discs continuing to flat arms above a conforming shelf raised on similar tubular supports centering an original framed cushion and with removable cushions within a three tier tubular frame. With original paper labels beneath each arm: “WARREN McARTHUR FURNITURE/LOS ANGELES, CALIF./PATENTS PENDING”. Literature: Sarah Nicholes, ed., Aluminum by Design, exh. cat., Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, 2000, p.216-217 for similar examples. SIZE: 27″ h of back. 67″ approximate l. 35″ w overall. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: Structurally very good with original enameled surfaces. Framed cushion intact, but in need of recovering.
