CASED PAIR OF P. DISCHLER PERCUSSION PARLOR PISTOLS. SN 494/ 495. Cal. .280 Groove diameter. 7-groove rifling. 4-1/4″ Skelp twist octagon barrels are inlaid in gold “P. Dischler in Munchen” on top flats. Bottoms of bbls are stamped “8136”. Copper-bead steel front sights are dovetailed through bbls. Inlaid silver bands are at breech ends. Hook patent breeches are acanthus engraved, as are breech irons, which have interesting screw adjusted elevating v-notch sights. Rounded island type bar locks have rebated tails, and flat-faced heavy hammers, engraved with acanthus and strap work highlights. Trigger plates have extended front circular finials which house bbl takedown screws. Triggers are set. Nicely marbled European walnut stocks have fluted grips. Matching steel grip caps are numbered 494 and 495. Morocco leather covered case has burgundy velvet lining. Guns and accessories are French fitted. Accessories include unmarked steel ball mold, maple-handled brass and lead loading mallet, rosewood horn-tipped loading rods, ebony-handled nipple wrench with pricker, rear sight elevation tool, brass powder measure, and very interesting stag carved staghorn powder flask with mahogany stopper. There are spaces in case for wad cutter and turnscrew, which are missing. CONDITION: Good. Metal cleaned to silver gray patina. Stocks retain nearly all of their French polish finish. Bores are strong. Locks are crisp. Set triggers need adjustment. Case leather is fine with numerous chips, mostly around edges. Interior cloth is faded back from purple, with numerous contact marks from guns and accessories. Mold shows some oxidation. Loading mallet shows considerable use. One loading rod is missing its brass tip. Flask is fine. 4-40977 MGM180 (4,000-5,500)
