MODEL 1836 JOHNSON FLINTLOCK PISTOL. SN NSN. Cal. 54. Standard Model 1836 dated “1842” with nickel finish, 8-1/2″ bbl, fixed sights with captive rammer. Lockplate has standard markings forward of hammer and standard markings on the bbl. Mounted in a 1-pc walnut stock with crisp cartouche and inspector initials on left side panel. Left side panel has an added, flat nickel-plated brass belt hook probably applied during the period of use. It is likely the belt hook & nickel plating were probably applied by a veteran of either the Mexican or Seminole Wars to be used as a parade arm. CONDITION: Very fine. Appears to be unfired. Overall retains 96-98% strong nickel finish with only a few minor spots of flaking and the back strap, front strap & butt cap turning milky. Stock has a large chip above the left side panel, a crack back of the right side panel and a fill spot on left side by bbl channel. Overall retains most of its orig oil finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-40904 JR324 (2,000-3,000)
