There were 4,096 of these pistols produced in the period 1806-1808 and were the first military handguns manufactured by a national armory. They were usually issued in pairs with duplicate SNs. According to Flayderman’s Guide to Antique American Firearms there were 2,580 of these pistols dated “1807”. CONDITION: Good. No orig finish remains with the iron being a cleaned, mottled metal patina with light to moderate pitting. Stock has a crack above the rear lockplate screw and a splice at the bottom front of the right side panel, otherwise the wood is sound and retains a fine professionally restored finish. Brass retains a dark mustard patina. Mechanics are good, moderately pitted bore. 4-40815 JR329 (5,000-7,000)
