EXTREMELY RARE COLT MODEL 1877 DA LIGHTNING REVOLVER. SN 104726. Cal. 32 Colt. Extremely rare caliber in this model with only about 200 made in this caliber of the approx. 111,500 revolvers produced. Blue & color case hardened with 6″ bbl, half moon front sight and 2-line Hartford address with caliber marking on left side. Left side of frame has 3-line patent dates and the rampant Colt in a broken circle. Mounted with rampant Colt hard rubber grips. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver, as found, in caliber 32 Colt with 6″ bbl, blue finish and rubber grips shipped to E.K. Tryon, Jr. & Co., Phila., PA on Oct. 22, 1896. PROVENANCE: David Crocker Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains about 90% strong orig blue turning slightly plum with muzzle edge wear and a few spots of rust on right side by the sight and another spot on left side. Frame retains most of its orig case colors, bright & strong in sheltered areas, slightly faded elsewhere, turned silver on recoil shield & loading gate. Top edge of hammer has turned plum with back edge retaining most of its orig fire blue. Grip frame retains strong blue in sheltered areas with front & back straps and trigger guard turning plum. Cyl is mostly a plum patina. Grips are sound and show light to moderate wear. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-36867 JR16 (3,000-5,000)
