*EXCEPTIONAL MARLIN NO. 27-S TROMBONE ACTION RIFLE. SN 4048. Cal .25 RF. 24″ rnd bbl with a bead front sight and Rocky Mountain rear sight. Bbl markings are “Marlin Firearms Co. NEW-HAVEN. CT. U.S.A./PAT’D AUG. 12. 1890. MAR. 1,’92. JUNE 8,’97. NOV.29, 1904.” Its a 2/3 length mag. Standard blue takedown receiver. Top tang marked “Marlin/No 27-S”. Standard straight grip stock and 9 groove forend of American walnut with second type crescent steel buttplate. Left side of top tang is marked with SN 4048 followed by the six point star stamping. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and mag tube have 95% blue with silvering from pump action operation. Receiver has 98% blue with very light scratches and spotting. Buttplate has very good blue mixing with patina in heel and toe areas. Sound stock and forend having very good finish and normal handling marks. Crisp mechanics with bright bore with minor spots near the muzzle. 4-40438 DS42 (2,000-3,000)
