*EXTREMELY RARE DELUXE MARLIN HALF NICKEL MODEL 20A PUMP ACTION RIFLE. SN 11768. Cal. 22. Extremely rare little rifle with 24″ tapered oct bbl, Sheard brass bead front sight and Model 20 rear sight. Top flat has standard markings forward of rear sight with caliber markings on top left flat over chamber. Mounted with very highly figured, checkered, shell grain American walnut with tapered rnd forearm and straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. This little rifle has the extremely rare feature of a nickel plated receiver, buttplate, hammer, trigger, slide rod, forend screws, knurled end of magazine tube and the magazine stud base just below the muzzle. The Model 20A is a continuation of the Model 20 and 20S with only a small change in the firing pin springs internally. Externally they have the same basic appearance as both of their predecessors. SN is on the left side of the top tang under the wood, inside the top tang channel of butt stock and inside the buttplate. Given the very short production life of this rifle, undoubtedly there were very few of them produced in deluxe configuration, let alone half nickel, making this an extremely rare rifle. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine, all matching. Bbl retains 96-97% strong orig blue with 4 or 5 small spots of pitting, primarily on the right side with a small ding on left side toward the muzzle. Magazine tube has a small dent adjacent to bbl ding, otherwise is intact and retains about 98% strong orig blue. Receiver has a couple of small flakes in the nickel, otherwise all of the nickeled pieces & parts retain virtually all of their orig bright factory finish. Stock has some light flaking on left side with crazed surface and overall retains 92-93% strong orig varnish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore, shows little or no wear. 4-40440 JR291 (2,000-3,000)
