*INCREDIBLE MATCHED TRIO OF IVO FABBRI PIGEON GUNS. SN E450/ E451/ E452. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. The building of a pair of guns is a difficult proposition and a fairly good “pairing charge” is always added in; building 3 matching guns is exceptional. This trio matches almost perfectly in all respects. 27″ Chopper lump barrels with raised flat matted ribs, inlaid in gold “1”, “2”, or “3” at breech ends, are engraved “ARMI FABBRI – BRESCIA – ITALY -” on sides of left bbls, and “Made Especially for George W. Gill Jr” and “Bohler Super Blitz Steel” on the right. Bbl flats are stamped with 1971 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers with SNs and “I. Fabbri”. Bbls are fitted with H&H style self-opening mechanism. Coin finished sidelock actions are stamped with proofs, SNs, “I. Fabbri” and “Tipo Piccone Especiale” on water tables. Breeches are fitted with W. C. Scott type vents. Actions feature automatic safeties (“Safe” relief engraved), incised-line tumbler end cocking indicators, and single non-selective triggers. Actions and lockplates are engraved with full coverage meticulously executed, and finely shaded semi-relief flowing open scroll with acanthus and floral highlights. Small bow trigger guards and top levers have matching engraving, with SNs on short tangs. Engravers signatures “F. Iora” are on trigger plates to right of bows. “1”, “2”, or “3” are inlaid in gold on each top lever. Wonderfully matched, dark, heavily marbled, and lightly figured, European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15″ over checkered wood butts, and feature diamond hands and meticulously cut 28 LPI point pattern checkering with line borders. Matching splinter ejector forends have gold inlaid pigeons in front of irons, Anson releases with “1”, “2”, or “3” inlaid in gold on tips, and SNs on inside of irons. Guns match in all particulars with weight within a half ounce of each other. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″ , drop at comb: 1-1/2″ . Weight: 7 lbs. .4 oz, LOP 15″. Gun no. 1: Bore diameter: left -.726, right -.725. Bore restrictions: left -.020, right -.022. Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.034. Gun no. 2: Bore diameter: left -.725, right -.725. Bore restrictions: left -.021, right -.020. Wall thickness: left -.035, right -.034. Gun no. 3: Bore diameter: left -.726, right -.727. Bore restrictions: left -.021, right -.021. Wall thickness: left -.035, right -.035. CONDITION: Near new. All three guns have seen a very little, careful use. There are virtually no marks on the wood on any of the three guns. A rare find. Today’s replacement cost would be hard to calculate, but probably well in excess of $300,000.00. 4-40891 MGM130 (100,000-150,000)
